The two godfathers and a god women of stop motion are

George melies for his revolutionary advances in cinematography, in 1896 he accidentally  discovered the substitution stop trick. George Meiles to most famous and iconic films are a trip to the moon (1902) and the impossible voyage (1904) which are the most important early sci-fi films of that era



Windor McCay was a talented Cartoonist and animator in the first part of the 20th century, He was a fast yet talatend drawer comic strip Little Nemo (begun 1905) and the animated cartoon Gertie the Dinosaur (1914)

Lotte Reiniger was a German silhouette animator and film director.She fall in love with film because of George Melies special effects she then wan't on to make The Adventures of Prince Achmed as you can see here it was made using cutouts and silhouettes
